Erik has spent 30 years working in the financial services industry, including portfolio management, economic consulting, macroeconomic forecasting, economic cycle analysis, model building, and real estate investments and lending.
Prior to co-founding CataMetrics Management, Erik served as a principal for OAK Real Estate Investment Partners, a private investment fund. For ten years, Erik ran an office of supervisory jurisdiction for OMNI Brokerage, a securities broker dealer providing high-net-worth clients with tax advantaged real estate investment solutions.
For 17 years, Erik served as Chief Investment Officer for LHO Group, an economic consulting and investment-management firm started and operated with his father, Leif H. Olsen, former Chief Economist of Citibank. During this time he oversaw the operation of a domestic long/short equity fund, as well as an emerging-markets fund. LHO Group provided economic forecasts and investment advice for several other investment managers including Keefe Managers, Brinson Partners, MacArthur Foundation and Amivest. Erik also served as a member of the investment committee of Amivest, an investment adviser which provided clients with portfolios of mutual funds. Erik is a founding member of the Common Ground Committee, a non-profit organization. The committee holds public forums in cooperation with the Christian Science Monitor to bring together opposing views on public initiatives in an effort to find points of agreement. He is also a Trustee of the Daycroft School Foundation. Erik graduated from Principia College with a BA in business, and received an MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA with concentrations in accounting and finance.
